Release

8.0 Changelog

Team,

Version 8 is a new version of PG that’s creating a proper directory structure and as a result, PG 5 – 7 are not compatible; the v8 installer will appear to work and then block the user!  We are working to transition PG, but it will take time.  If you have a small-smaller server, it’s recommend to start fresh.

USERS OWN RISK for PG 7 to PG 8 upgrade – If you really want to update with 0 support, then use the following command:  rm -rf /var/plexguide/pg.number and then use the v8 installer on the page.

Take Note:

  • Plex will work from the legacy use by installing PG 8.0.11 and above
  • Sonarr/Radarr will require the user to mass change the paths from /unionfs to /mnt/unionfs
  • NZBGET and SABNZBD, use the wiki to the paths to the version 8 defaults (it’s posted)
  • You must REDEPLOY all containers because they will hold on to PG7 stuff.  Use PGBox and type the app even if it’s missing (it will redeploy).
  • Please read the very bottom of this post to see other mass changes made!
  • Edit Plex Database for paths? https://www.reddit.com/r/PleX/comments/76xhgc/plex_database_edit/

Updates 8.0.21 – 8.024 removed, complete community and core box rolled over to 8.1 – Users can upgrade to 8.0.20 in the 8. 0 series.

Fixes for 8.0.24

  • Moved the following roles to the community box
    • cadvisor
    • booksonic
    • kitana
    • sharesite
    • thelounge
    • nzbthrottle
    • loggarr
    • headphones
    • duplicati
    • homeassistant
    • ddclient
    • deezloaderremix
    • airsonic
    • htpcmanager
    • monitorr
    • organizrr
    • resilio
    • ubooquity

Community Box 8.021 – 8.024

  • Added embystats

NOTE have make a tag for the core containers so they only show; all still works fine 😀

Fixes for 8.0.23

  • Move mellow role to community box
  • Removed blitzui (not utilized since 8.015)

Fixes for 8.0.22

  • Oauth container exempt from traefik standard traefik rebuild
    • will add solution to rebuild separately if detected

Enhancement 8.0.21

Fixes from 8.0.20

  • Blitz should be good for encrypted users.  The feedback people gave helped!
    • redflag 1: pgblitz works one time, then fails
    • redflag 2: i had to use a cron job to make it work
    • solution: discovered that C was adding itself back into the equation, which botches everything up! so imagine a=a+1 …. good right, imagine a=a+1Popcorn … that’s what the C was doing, so for simplicity sake it’s like this a=a+1, output=a (repeat).

 .

Fixes from 8.0.17 – 8.0.19

https://github.com/Admin9705/PlexGuide.com-The-Awesome-Plex-Server/pull/787

Assist Debian users with PGBlitz

Fix for 8.0.15  & 8.016

8.0.16 Only:  Fixes mnt path issue (recommended to use 8.0.16)

8.015

  • New PG Blitz
  • Fixed the cron for properly clean command. Just run PG and it will work automatically
  • New Bandwidth Controls for Blitz
  • UnionFS only used /mnt/move.  Fix made is for 2nd HD users.  When deploying pgblitz, it will mount /(hdpath)/move so that is a new fix.
  • Added Clone Clean. Cleans empty folders every hour
  • Sped up PG Moves sleep time
  • BlitzUI removed; does not work with new version
  • Remove pglog command
    • replace with ‘blitz’ command which shows current transfer as shown in picture below
  • files are now moved to {processpath}/pgblitz/upload and then uploaded from there (pulls 100gig chunks from /mnt/move)
  • Few users tested and great results
  • In this your keys rotate after every upload!  No more oddness with your files rotating to different folders! Please provide feedback
  • Note, code is added to prevent files from uploading for 2 minutes when they hit /mnt/move – when files transfer, they build in size and can take a few seconds!

Fix for 8.0.14

  • Exempted OAuth when selecting 2nd HD for rebuilds.  The rebuild will error out if OAuth is deployed.

Feature for 8.0.12

  • PGTrakt is updated for v8 Plex Users.  PGTrakt only works for Plex’s Libraries in the new format (created by v8).  If legacy, PGTrakt will no longer work.

Feature for 8.0.11

  • Plex and Emby has their old /unionfs path restored (this is more for legacy users).  To utilize, redeploy the program.  This also helps with the restore process above.  DO NOT USE FOR NEW SERVERS!
  • Take note that we’ll put up instructions on how to convert your plex in the future to the new format.  When posted, we’ll put a deprecation notice on a certain time to make the adjustments by for future updates.

Feature for 8.0.10

  • Added JellyFin (emby opensource fork)

Feature for 8.0.9

  • PG Shield (from 8.0.8 below) invalidates your login after 12 hours; thus requiring a browser exit and restart.  The time changed from 12 hours to 30 days.  To enable, just redeploy PG Shield after the update.

Fixes for 8.0.8

  • Added several /mnt:/mnt/ to containers for people who change their processing location so unionfs can be seen and etc.  Redeploy any affected containers (only for it affects)

Fixes for 8.0.7

  • M-Rots | Tweak change to pgblitz for file comparison
  • Kitty | Updated dd-client role
  • NextCloud rewritten and cleaned up

Fixes for 8.0.6

  • Auto Prune Added, unused docker images get deleted hourly to keep your diskspace clear.  In 1 day, you can stack 2-3gigs in images.
  • Sonarr port set back to 8989; was 8988 (mistake)

Fixes for 8.0.5

  • Removed MEDUSA
  • Improved PGBlitz – by increase uploads, reducing sleep, and switches GDSA keys after 30 minutes instead of 1 hour 30 minutes if a file is stuck
    • Just redeploy blitz, thats it

Fixes for 8.0.4

  • Heimdall https:// finally works after forever.  Just update, redeploy and your set!  You can it via http://ipv4.1111 or http://domain:1111 if your ports are open and via https://heimdall.domain.com for both open and closed ports

Fixes for 8.0.3

  • Sonarr/Raddar with NZBGET fixed
    • fixed the nzb and temp issue
    • make sure to redeploy them; if app name is missing from pgbox; just type it and will ask you if your sure; say yes to deploy.

Fixed

  • If a user closes their ports via port guard, it no longer output port information as shown below.

Fixes for 8.0.2

  • OAuth Repaired for PG Shield
  • Removed default username and password from SABNZBD

Fixes for 8.0.1

  • New NZBGET installs will not have a password.  Fixed the glitch where the password was completely remove, but that result to NZBGET’s default password
  • /mnt/downloads and /mnt/incomplete will now be chmoded to 775 when running 8.0.1

Will get to more fixes!

Fixes for 8.0

Starter baseline.  Much of the core changes have been added.

  • Sonarr 4k, Sonarr HDR, Radarr 4k, Radarr HDR, Omib 4k, Ombi HDR dropped (caused too much confusion)
    • User now has the ability to create custom containers and can replicate which ever version they choose
  • Following other programs have been removed/changed
    • CouchPototo removed
    • Organizr v1 removed
      • Organizr v2 rename to Organizr for simplicity
    • NZBHydra removed
      • NZBHydra v2 renamed to NZBHydra for simplicity
  • Programs output to a much simpler structure within /mnt as seen below (like incomplete instead of /sab /nzbget and etc)

@turner123 as always I'm sure @Admin9705 will push out a more detailed write up in time to come along with all the other hard work he puts in.

@bubbadk I believe in 8.0 the following containers are to be dropped:
nzbhydra v1, organizr v1, sickrage, sickchill, sonarr v1, and nzbhydra v1, couchpotato

These have been released with newer versions that have a more PG focus.

Agreed on the backups (PG Vault) are the containers that are being kept save to restore?

Admin, I have had to reinstall my PG system several times over the last few months. Will it be a requirement to have a new install for v8, or is this just due to the fact that it is a beta?

If it is a requirement to new install v8 then I will most likely stay on 7.7.

ya new install, if you see the screenshots above, you'll see why. the version 7 installer will stay up incase even when 8 is the main one. purpose of why new installer was built in 7.6

If this is to be the case would it be possible when you get time to let us know how we would go about setting up a new v8 install using a 7.7 backup, pretty please :) (I'm in no rush as I literally went to 7.7 from 7.5 yesterday lol)

It would be nice to have a "migration" plan for those that have large data sets, especially the one for Plex itself. The software could be a reinstall, including new paths, but there should be a way to move over databases, etc. when it makes sense.

Might even be a manual process, but it should still be something that we work on.

++ on that, ateleast for plex container, we should be able to move that one over...
its almost impossible (atleast for me) to even consider redoing all the plex matches + sonarr/radarr databases :(

Absolutely this, in the last month and a half having to start from scratch for multiple apps and now the whole setup, without being able to restore backups, isn't something we should be doing. Time providing a solution for people that are not that technical to have their containers backed up, and restored into the new paths should be something required, not an after thought.

I can't suggest using this to a friend that isn't Linux savvy, and every time he wants to up date (maybe once every other month) he has to start from scratch.

ya i understand, v7 carries legacy stuff, but v8 moves forward from it.
Is v9, v10, and so on going to move forward from the previous versions as well? Do we have a development roadmap that we could assist you with so that these rewrites and complete reinstall aren't the norm moving forward?

Not to mention, the first PG install video I came across specifically talked about not needing to be a linux guru to use this software.

This here. The number of releases are just too high to be honest. I think a more structured release plan is necessary. Releases need to spend more time in beta before they are released to the public. Currently, it feels like every little change has a new version. Maybe group more of these changes together to cut down on the number of releases, especially with v8+. I love that you are dedicated to making this better and I'm not trying to complain but simply offer some input. Thanks.

I guess I don't understand the need to completely re-install with v8. I really don't want to have to do that.

It's a beta. give it time. Maybe he will find a solution for the restore issue :)
