Hey guys !

Let me start by thanking you for the amazing work done on PlexGuide. I learned a lot and installed my own system on the recommended Hetzner EX 42.
I have a few friends enjoying it as well but i'm experiencing a strange problem i'm really unable to solve..

I stream only in DirectPlay and asked ppl to do the same.

When i stream from my computer with the desktop app (windows 10), i regulary get the "buffering" message that stays forever (sometimes after a few minutes, sometimes in the middle of a show/movie). Only solution is to stop/restart movie to keep it playing.
Same problem when i use the web app on my computer (windows 10 / chrome). Friends using the web app experience the same issue.

BUT... When using a chromecast (same network than the computer), i never get the problem and everything runs smoothly...

Bandwich should not be an issue, i'm relativly close to the hetzner server and got a good connection (100-150mbp).

I'm using the GDrive Suite storage as explained on the wiki and the setup is "classic". I did mess up a bit with the rclone settings but nothing really helped.

One last thing: i get the same problem with Emby/Jellyfin ! (eternal buffering randomly) So it leads me to think it's not Plex-related but more some kind of rclone stuff. But why only on the computer?

Any idea on how to investigate further is welcome ! :)

Thanks a lot for taking the time to read !

Cheers,

Can you check on the Plex/Emby server what is happening when you're using your Chromecast? It might not be directplay, but converting it.

If you use the browser on your computer instead of the desktop app, does it give you any problems?

Hey Adam & thanks for your reply.

Chromecast is direct playing as well (checking with tautulli).

On the browser, it does transcode but the buffering problem still occursl.

Are you using PG move or PG blitz? Any chance you're hitting the g suite rate limit?

Using PG Move and not hitting the limit (don"t upload a lot and i left the default upload speed value)
I checked the google console API page to see if there is some error but nothing strange over there either.

have look in
sudo pg>4>1>s
[5] Buffer-Size [6] VFS-Read-Chunk-Size [7] VFS-Read-Chunk-Size-Limit
play with these

Can you confirm you've tried playing in the media player without conversion?

So try selecting "original playback" for example. See if there is any change in buffer speed then.

Thanks to both of you for trying to help :)

I edited my rclone settings with yours.. Will see if there is any improvments.

Yes, i do confirm i play the media in "direct play". Tautulli confirms it.

May i ask how i can monitor the "buffer speed" you are talking about ?

Cheers!

Little update : never achieved to fix this. I bought an nvidia shield and since then, no more problem... Guess it's really "computer-related".

Thanks to the people who tried to help me. If someones comes up with a solution, i'm still curious ! :)
