Ran across this very interesting development of the previous windows only HW decode unlock patch for Nvidia cards:

Source:
https://github.com/keylase/nvidia-patch

Guide:

Card capabilities:
https://developer.nvidia.com/video-encode-decode-gpu-support-matrix#Encoder

I was wondering how one would go about unlocking the card for a Plex home server running in a docker on Ubuntu 18.04.

I know there is a docker image for the nvidia platform... but there is no plex docker container built with that as far as i know:
https://devblogs.nvidia.com/nvidia-docker-gpu-server-application-deployment-made-easy/

There is also some discussion about this at:
https://forums.plex.tv/t/how-to-setup-nvidia-hw-acceleration-in-ubuntu-docker/288625/6

They seem to have been able to build a docker container with this working.. but my knowledge of docker is too rudimentary to adapt this and understand how I would be able to use this in PG.

I'd love a discussion of how we could get this to work in PGBlitz or some help or ideas on how I might be able to achieve this?

I have no experience here but a quick search found the discussion in comments.

So, since the new 1.17.0.1709 BETA brings us:
(Transcoder) Update to current upstream ffmpeg
(Transcoder) Support for hardware transcoding on Linux with Intel 9th-gen processors
(Transcoder) Support for VC-1 hardware decoding on supported platforms
(Transcoder) Support for hardware decoding on Linux with Nvidia GPUs
(Transcoder) Support for zero-copy hardware transcoding on Linux with Nvidia GPUs
(Transcoder) Support for zero-copy hardware transcoding of interlaced media

I'm wondering how can pgblitz use nvidia-docker so we can transcode media with nvidia GPUs.

Late to the party, but have been doing this with my M2000 for a good few months now, it works well for my needs.

I just purchased a GeForce GTX 1660 Ti for just this purpose but I'm having some difficulty getting this right. Would you be willing to walk me through it, or point me in the direction of a guide?

Same any guide to how you got it working? I'm unsure where to config PGblitz so it runs with the "GPU" runtime.
