    Basics: Google Compute Engine (GCE)


    Google Compute Engine (GCE) is a component of Google Cloud Platform which is built on the global infrastructure that runs Google’s search engine, Gmail, YouTube and other services. Google Compute Engine enables users to launch virtual machines(VMs) on demand. VMs can be launched from the standard images or custom images created by users.

    Establishing Billing Parameters & Basics

    • Enable Billing. This may take a hot minute for google to setup for you!

    • Create a Compute Engine instance:

    • Recommend Specifications are as Followed!
      • Zone: (pick one closest to your usenet server)
        • us-central1-a (Iowa)
        • europe-west1-b (Belgium)
        • asia-east1-a (Taiwan)
        • we are picking these locations because they have 2.6ghz cores instead of 2.2ghz

    Processors

    • 2 or 4 Processors
    • The lower, the more you save; but you have to have the right amount of power
    • If you go above 8 cores, you will have to upgrade your account

    Operating System

    • Ubuntu 16.04 or 18.04 LTS
    • Set the size of the disk to 100GB (you can make it lower, but could lock up your system!)
      • Skipping this step will result in your startup disk being superful
      • PG mitigated by using symoblic links to offload as much as possible to your NVME drive

    Access your console now by clicking SSH on the far right as shown in the picture above or via terminal if you know how!

    Installing GCE Feeder Edition via PlexGuide

    1. First install PlexGuide by visiting here: Install PlexGuide
    2. Go through the Install Process and Select the GCE Feeder Edition. If no errors, the program will deploy most of your programs by default!

    Configure Your Static IP & Firewall

    • First, you must configure your network. Please view the picture below. You will type external ip address in the SEARCH BAR

    • Next, you have to setup your external IP address. You will not see your programs if you fail to do this!

    • From there, you will click a top to reserve a static ip address.

    • You must then assure you select an ipv4 address and ATTACH it to your INSTANCE.

    Next, you will click firewall rules and add a new one.

    Next, you will create a firewall rule below following the picture below.

    Ensure to setup you information as shown below. In regards to the ports for better security, you can copy this line: tcp:9000; tcp:7878; tcp:8989; tcp:6789; tcp:8080; tcp:8000; tcp:7999;tcp:7998

    Give it a name, choose direction of traffic as ingress, target is All instances in the network. Source filter is IP ranges and the range you must enter is 0.0.0.0/0.

    If you are having problems, just select the all option; but just keep in mind that this results in poor security.


    Now test by going to your programs. IPv4:9000 should work by default due to it being Portainer. If you just applied the rules, wait up-to 1 minute for the modified Google Firewall rules to kick in.

    Configure RClone

    Part I

    You must have both gdrive and tdrive remotes configured for RCLONE
    • n/s/q> TYPE n
    • name> TYPE gdrive
    • Storage> Type drive
    • client_id> PRESS ENTER
    • client_secret> PRESS ENTER
    • scope> PRESS ENTER
    • root_folder_id> PRESS ENTER
    • service_account_file> PRESS ENTER
    • Use auto config - y/n> TYPE n
    • Copy & Paste the Link into the Browser / Login, Click OK and there is a VERIFICATION CODE
    • Paste the verification code into TERMINAL and PRESS ENTER
    • Configure as a team drive? y/n? Type n
    • If it looks good, you'll see y/e/d> Type y
    • Type q to exit and you are done! Skip downward to Deploy PG Drives!
    • Type n to continue the second portion for the TeamDrive Mount!
    Part II of II

    You must have both gdrive and tdrive remotes configured for RCLONE

    • client_secret> PRESS ENTER
    • scope> PRESS ENTER

    • Copy & Paste the Link into the Browser / Login, Click OK and there is a VERIFICATION CODE
    • Paste the verification code into TERMINAL and PRESS ENTER
    • Configure as a team drive? y/n? Type y
    • Enter a Team Drive ID > Select the ID Number of the Team Drive
    • You should have something like this below.
    • If it looks good, you'll see y/e/d> Type y
    • Type q to exit and you are done! Skip downward to Deploy PG Drives!
    Verify That It Works!
    Verify that your teamdrive is configured properly with rclone touch tdrive:/test123 && echo "rclone OK" You should see a file called test123 in your Media teamdrive at drive.google.com/

    Deploy PG Drive

    Before you deploy ST2, you MUST deploy PG Drive. PG Drive will create the three following locations:
    • /mnt/gdrive
    • /mnt/tdrive
    • /mnt/unionfs
      < This is your primary location to target Radarr & Sonarr

    Deploying ST2

    Before you start this process, ensure that you utilize CloudCMD. By default, this program will deploy and will be installed for you! CloudCMD allows you to upload your files to your server just by dragging and dropping your files! Visit http://your-ipv4:7998. The default username and password is plex - guide

    Load PlexGuide and Goto PG SuperTransfer2. Now press any key and enter y to start the configuration process.
    Load up http://yourip:7888 and you will see where you will upload your json files. Follow the information below to create your JSON Files
    Create JSON Files & Upload using CLOUDCMD

    From here, follow the instruction to create your JSON files. The video will have the information on where to go and what to do until written up. These JSON files are your service accounts that enable the additional uploading of your files.

    You can utilize port 8000 (slower method) or port 7998 (faster method) for uploading your files when you are told to. A special container called cloudst2 will deploy and enable uploading of your JSON files.

    When you are complete, you will be asked a series of questions. Answer accordingly and when ST2 is ready to deploy, you will see this at the end. No worries, press CTRL + C to escape when it's down after it tells you your daily upload limits.

    Final Notes

    You finally made it! From here, there are five programs that you will be able to utilize:
    • NZBGET
    • SABNZBD
    • Radarr
    • Sonarr
    • Portainer
    • CloudCMD
    Ensure that you secure each of your programs. Also for each program, make sure you visit each of the wikis accordingly in for this entire process to work!
