Want your library to look slick and personal? Custom posters are the secret weapon of a polished Plex setup.

Step 1: Find or Create Artwork

  • Use sites like ThePosterDB or Fanart.tv
  • You can also create your own in Photoshop, Canva, or Photopea

Step 2: Use Correct Naming
Place artwork in the same folder as your media, using:

  • poster.jpg for the main poster
  • fanart.jpg or background.jpg for the background
  • folder.jpg if using on a drive-mounted setup

Step 3: Apply It in Plex

  • Click the media item
  • Use the three-dot menu or hover on the poster and click Set Poster
  • Upload the image or choose from the local files

Tips:

  • Use 1000x1500px for posters and 1920x1080px for fanart for best quality
  • You can also set artwork for collections and libraries
